On Tuesday April 2, 2019 Fire District residents passed the Referendum question with 63.97% in favor. We would like to thank everyone for the “overwhelming” support of the work we do. Referendum information will remain available on this site for several months and questions can be directed to our District office at (708) 974-4474 or by emailing Chief Paul Mackin at pmackin@northpalosfire.org.

We hope the information on this page will help you make an educated decision on our Referendum question during the April 2, 2019 Consolidated General Election.  If you would like additional information please contact our District office at (708) 974-4474 or email Chief Paul Mackin at pmackin@northpalosfire.org.

The basis of the referendum is increase revenue and prevent further reductions in staffing and service. It seeks to increase the District's annual operating levy funding $104 for the owner of a $200,000 home. That is less than $8.67 per month or .29 cents per day based on this example. A sample of the ballot proposition is shown below:

Note: The 20% indicated in the sample ballot can be very confusing to voters. The 20% only refers to the District's portion of your tax bill. The District currently receives less than .10 cents of your tax dollar. This .10 cents of your tax dollar is what is increasing 20%. With passage of the referendum .12 cents of your tax dollar will then go to the District instead of the current .10 cents.

To figure out how much this referendum will cost you please use our Tax Calculator.

Note: Since the first Installment tax bill for 2018 is an estimated bill equal to 55% of the prior year's total tax, please use your 2nd installment 2017 tax bill (paid in 2018) with the Tax Calculator
