The North Palos Fire Protection District is proud to announce the attainment of an Insurance Services Organization (ISO) Public Protection Classification (PPC) of 2/2X. The District is one of 79 fire protection agencies in Illinois and 1324 nationwide to receive this classification. The District’s previous classification of 3 was established in a 2009 evaluation.

The classification is determined through an evaluation of four major areas: Emergency Communications Systems, Fire Department, Water Supply and Community Risk Reduction. Insurance companies use PPC information to help establish premiums for fire insurance, generally offering lower premiums in communities with better protection.

The PPC also provides fire departments with a benchmark and can be used as a tool when planning, budgeting and justifying fire protection improvements.

The following graphs indicate the number of agencies and their PPC both in Illinois and Nationwide.
